Maurice Arenas Signature
Maurice Arenas is an iconoclastic guitarist/multi-instrumentalist and composer.
From Jazz Funk with Oz Noy to Blues Rock with David Grissom and Carl Verheyen, to solo Jazz Guitar and Classical Guitar, Maurice always tries to balance his own musical identity on guitar while navigating that difficult musical landscape of the composition.
Throughout his session musician career, Maurice has performed and composed in a wide variety of genres including Classical, Flamenco, Jazz, Fusion, Rock, Electric Blues, R&B, Funk, Latin, Soul, Shred, Acoustic Blues, Folk, Southern Rock, Fingerstyle, Country, Experimental, EDM and New Age.
LSL Instruments is very glad to present the new Maurice Arenas signature HSS Saticoy! Let’s dig into the specs!
This model includes a very special finish. It is nitrocellulose lacquer, full gloss for luxurious look and superior tone. However this finish has gold or multicolor holographic sparkle in the clear coat in order to achieve a finish we call “Black and Gold’ or “Starry Night”. This finish allows for the solid black color underneath to be completely separated from the sparkle and clear coat above it. The end result is what looks like the night sky in the wilderness. It is simply stunning and continues to impress in different lighting. Our team is very enamored with the look of our “Starry Night'‘ finish.
This is a 22 fret model with gold hardware. It comes with an alder body and maple neck, paired with a nice dark ebony fingerboard with fast and flatter than standard 12” radius.
The neck is a satin nitro finish for fast playability. The knobs take a turn away from the traditional by utilizing gold top hat speed knobs which are great for volume swells and look fantastic with the gold hardware.
The pickups are our HSS hand wound set. This beefs up our standard PAF by 10% and takes the 50’s SSS set up to a 60’s set for higher break up threshold while still retaining that woodiness that we all love and need. Our 60’s singles are very reminiscent of the tones you are used to hearing from players such as Gilmour, Beck, Henderson and Landau. In Maurice’s hands they made him feel right at home.
Top it all off with Jumbo nickel frets for fast smooth playability and you have the Maurice Arenas Signature Saticoy 22 HSS. The original was named “MAGICK”. But we will nick name this artist model “MAGIC” from here on out.
Note: The original model came with a bone nut. Since then Maurice has become a Graphtech endorser. All future models will come with a Graphtech Tusq Nut. We love Graphtech and look forward to having their products on our guitars.
